FAQ

Do you win by touching the Moon in Totally Safe Moon Project?
No. The National Heroes achievement requires finishing the game by destroying the asteroid. Steam’s store text also asks you to bring the laser you built in the garage to the top and destroy the rock after the tower is ready.
What height milestones matter in a Totally Safe Moon Project walkthrough?
Steam height achievements unlock at 10, 20, 40, 65, 95, 120, 175, 250, 300, 350, and 425 meters. During a run the left meter shows the next goal, which can read higher than those trophy heights as you progress.
When should I buy upgrades during the campaign?
Return to the Upgrades terminal when the green You can upgrade! banner appears. Spend points on Gravity Gun levels when heavy props refuse to lift; see our gravity gun upgrades page for reported prices.
Is Chaos Mode required for the main walkthrough?
No. Chaos Mode is optional. The Difficulty? I’d like a little more achievement only applies if you finish the game in Chaos Mode. Global unlock sat near 2% on November 1, 2026. How to enable it before a run is not described on the Steam store page.

What is the campaign loop?

According to the Steam store page, a giant asteroid threatens Earth and the Moon is your escape target. You play solo or in online co-op with up to three friends, stack props into a tower, earn rewards as you climb, upgrade gear, then work together to bring the laser built in your garage to the top and destroy the rock. There is no competition on the feature list, only teamwork.

That loop repeats until the National Heroes achievement fires: Finish the game by destroying the asteroid.

Which height goals should you track?

Steam names eleven height achievements you can treat as a checklist:

Achievement Height
10m 10 m
20m 20 m
40m 40 m
65m 65 m
95m 95 m
120m 120 m
175m 175 m
250m 250 m
300m 300 m
350m 350 m
425m 425 m

In play, the left NEXT GOAL marker moves on its own schedule. Official screenshots show targets such as 65 m, 120 m, 500 m, and 825 m at different stages, so the HUD number will not always match the next trophy height.

When you hit a payout, the UI can show Goal Reached with a cash reward and New Item unlocks. Bank those rewards before you chase the next ledge.

How do you set up in the garage?

Marketing shots place the run start in a suburban garage hub. You will find an Upgrades computer and an Invite Friends kiosk for online sessions (multiplayer guide).

Before you leave:

  • Open Upgrades when the prompt appears and note your Balance in P.
  • Host co-op from Invite Friends if friends are joining.

The garage also holds the laser platform. A floor sign reads Bring to the Moon beside the device you haul later.

What should you stack on the way up?

Steam’s short description lists fences, boxes, houses, clouds, and anything else you can reach. Screenshots show buses, trucks, and whole buildings wedged into mid-air stacks once the route leaves suburbia.

Practical habits that match the official pitch:

  • Favor broad walkable surfaces (bus roofs, house tops, fence panels laid flat).
  • Upgrade the Gravity Gun when pickups fail; heavier tiers unlock as you spend P at the terminal (gravity gun upgrades).
  • In co-op, how P is split between players is not documented yet, so check the Balance counter before anyone buys.

Optional routing ideas from a third-party walkthrough by 9Puz (based on a RoboDessert four-player recording): start from a gas-station canopy near the house and use fence ramps to step onto it. Any large flat roof you can reach works the same way.

When should you return for upgrades?

Steam says climbing earns points used to upgrade your gear. Watch for the green You can upgrade! banner and walk back to the terminal.

Reported Gravity Gun prices step 100 P, 150 P, and 200 P for the first three levels (allthings.how and 9Puz; 200 P also appears on an official Upgrades screenshot). Full sourcing lives on gravity gun upgrades. The buy button can look active even when your balance is too low, so read the price and your P count before you click.

New gadgets appear after New Item popups. Unlock order follows your run, not a fixed wiki chart.

What optional events can interrupt a climb?

Several Steam achievements confirm extras you may see while building:

Achievement What it confirms
I Want to Believe UFOs can appear and be destroyed
Clear Sky Satellites can be taken down
A Rainy Day Asteroid Rain events exist
Not Afraid A Fall Damage gameplay setting exists

Launch coverage on mxdwn (October 30, 2026) mentions smaller meteors striking materials as the asteroid nears. allthings.how describes supply crates from a delivery drone. Treat timing and damage from those articles as secondary unless you see the same event on your run.

How do you finish the asteroid mission?

  1. Keep raising the tower until you can reach the Moon route at the top of your stack.
  2. Return to the garage laser when your Gravity Gun can lift it (the Bring to the Moon sign marks the device).
  3. Move the laser up the tower with broad rest stops. Co-op helps on tight corners; the Magnet tool can show Pull Player to you in official shots.
  4. Place the laser at the finale spot and trigger the ending so the asteroid breaks apart, matching National Heroes.

In the RoboDessert recording summarized by 9Puz, the lunar flag area displays NOW, BRING THE WEAPON HERE. Wording and layout may change in patches.

What about Chaos Mode and Fall Damage?

Not Afraid requires finishing with Fall Damage enabled. Difficulty? I’d like a little more requires a full clear in Chaos Mode (about 2.0% global unlock on November 1, 2026). Neither mode is required for the standard campaign. The Steam store page does not say where either one is switched on.

What is not confirmed yet?

  • Exact P payout per height goal
  • Chaos Mode and Fall Damage toggle locations before a run
  • Oxygen limits, Oxygen Totems, and related costs (described only in player recordings such as the 9Puz / RoboDessert route, not on the Steam page)
  • Revive or respawn rules in co-op
  • Whether P is pooled or per-player in co-op
  • Every NEXT GOAL value after the late-game screenshots (500 m, 825 m, and similar)
